Alyssa Rodriguez
Hello! I am a Suzuki trained violin teacher who recently moved to Helsinki for a Fulbright grant. I have 5+ years teaching experience and earned my Bachelor’s of Music degree from Ithaca College in upstate New York, USA, where I studied violin and music education.
My teaching philosophy is ”there are no mistakes, only variations” like the motto of the school where I taught in New York, the Kanack School of Musical Artistry, which has an emphasis on individual creativity and improvisation.
I have taught online since March 2020 and provide individualized digital materials for students, including practice videos. I also teach in person lessons. I have lots of experience teaching students of all levels and ages, especially adult and child beginners (I have taught Pre-Twinkle to 3 year old violinists).
I teach both classical music and fiddle traditions from America, Ireland, and Scandinavia. I will be studying folk music pedagogy at the Sibelius Academy 2021-2022 and specializing in string pedagogy and folk music pedagogy.
